Baxter Springs, KS.
The last Marsh Arch cement bridge on the original Route 66 remains between Riverton and Baxter Springs.

You can leave the newer section that bypassed the bridge and drive over this bridge.  A great photo-op and place to relax.
This old Phillips 66 gas station was restored thanks to a National Park Service Route 66 Corridor grant.
Another old 66 business in
Baxter Springs awaits adoption.
The "Cafe on the Route" is located in the old Crowell Bank building, and also offers a Bed and Breakfast opportunity for Route travelers.

Baxter Springs is very pro-active regarding Route 66, and it shows!
The Baxter Museum (above) includes a 1926 LaFrance firetruck complete with the fireman who drove her on 66!

"October 13, 2007 was the Grand Opening of the Station. We are located on Route 66 @ 940 Military Avenue.

It will be hard to miss us with our bright orange roof and our tan
building which is now in the process of being painted.

Our Route 66 area downtown is making many changes. Merchants are restoring buildings. We now have a working neon sign with Route 66 Soda Fountain on it. This building is being used for our area youth and some adult classes at night.

On the corner of 12th & Military on Route 66 an old movie theatre is being restored. Next to that building an old drug store being restored.

Cafe on the Route has redone the outside of their building and they also have a new menu.

Van's Steakhouse is redoing their decor have you tried their
homemade pie!

Our phone will be in operation soon at the Station so if you have any questions you can email us or give us a call.

Phone 620-856-2066
